A Gemstone to “Rock” Her World: Choosing the Ideal Gemstone for a Silver Engagement Ring

We’ve established elsewhere that we think silver engagement rings are the engagement ring be-all and end-all. They’re affordable, they come in myriad styles, and they’re as long-lasting and valuable as we hope your love will be. True, you needn’t choose a silver engagement ring with a gemstone, and certainly there are plenty of fetching silver engagement rings to choose from – with a matte finish or shiny, with blackened silver or a touch of goldfill – without them. But we think nothing will “rock” her world like a silver engagement ring with a hot little rock to sparkle up her finger (and blind her girlfriends with jealousy!).

One particularly apt gemstone accompaniment to the silver engagement ring is the white zircon. It sparkles like a diamond for far less money, and is so beautiful and sparkly, who cares what it is? (Besides, a certain amount of frugality is a good quality to bring to the start of a marriage.)  But you needn’t stick to the white zircon, actually. Did you know that zircons come in an array of beautiful colours? We thought not. Well, you can have your silver engagement ring set with a zircon or zircons in blue, yellow, orange or pink… just think of the possibilities!

Another apt rock for a silver engagement ring is the pearl, symbol of fidelity and purity. With its creamy luster, the pearl looks particularly stunning set in silver engagement rings. Pearls, like zircons, can also be found in a few other hues. We think the pink pearl is also a nice addition to a silver engagement ring.

And while we’re thinking pink, we wish to remind you that the rose quartz is the stone of love. Now wouldn’t that make a nice rock mate for a silver engagement ring? If you’re not into pink – not even for a silver engagement ring – choose from among the other quartzes, such as the clear quartz, which has the added benefit of opening up that little chakra at the top of your head, and letting wisdom fly in. Wisdom, too, is a very very good thing to bring to the start of a marriage.

Last but not least – for this round, at least – we’d like to suggest the gemstones in the opal family as an accompaniment to the silver engagement ring. Whether you fancy the opal or the opalite or the fire opal, mined or synthetic, you’ll have a bewitching silver ring to show off to friends and family.

But really, all we mean to tell you is that silver engagement rings come with an array of coloured gemstones; and, fundamentally, any one that suits the two people getting engaged is fantastic, as far as we’re concerned. We wish you a sparkling engagement!
